Roses and carnations are pretty. You might try to find out what her favorite flowers are and get a bouquet of those.
When my Aunt was born, my grandfather didn't buy a bouquet, he bought a tree and planted it in their side yard. By the time my grandparents passed away, that tree was HUGE and always reminded them of the day their youngest baby was born.

Reply:I wouldn't buy flowers but a plant to congratulate her and it will be a purchase in honor of your half sibling. Also buy something for your future brother or sister. Your Step Mom will be more than happy and very appreciative.
Also remember - flowers die but the plant could last a lifetime, if it is well taken care of.
