Friend won't shut up about dog!?

this girl.... one of my best friends...is obsessed w/ her dog(s). i smell some flowers at her house; she got them for her dog. she buys him baby clothes and .... its just insane. she loves her dog... great. but i don't wanna hear about it all the time. whenever i'm with her she's all (in annoying baby voice) "ohh i love you so much your my little baby..." i try and ignore her but omigosh its sooooo annoying. its getting to the point of where i don't wanna hang out w/ her anymore. what in the world can i do?

You need to talk to her. Just explain that you find the "dog talk" a little annoying to the point where you don't want to hang out with her anymore. Make sure she knows that you value the friendship you have and don't want anything to get in the way of it, including a dog! She may even appreciate that you've told her :-) Good luck!

Honesty may hurt her a bit, but in the long run, if you do it gently and try to remain a friend (albeit distant one), she may be better off hearing the news now. The sooner she hears it, the sooner she can take the news to heart and try to give doggy-love a rest.





Of course, she could just become angry with you and whatnot, but if you're going crazy and don't want to hang with her anymore, she deserves to know the reason even if she doesn't like it.
