I am wanting an outdoorsy feel to my wedding - my colors are white, dark brown, and dark green. The ceremony and reception are at the same venue - the ceremony outside, the reception inside and out - it's in the forest.
I'm going to have candles everywhere - but for my centerpieces on my tables, I am wanting only a couple candles, and like a little tree in the center.
How would I go about making a little tree??? Or where could I get such a little tree (no taller than 18" )?
Or would like putting sticks in a mason jar, with flowers in as well with babies breath, and water in the jar look nice?
Just need some help putting my idea together, thanks!!
Wedding centerpiece, how to put idea together?
I love the ideas of the little trees - you could try bonsai plants though they can be expensive. Try a small topiary tree in a pretty pot. The nice things about these would be that you can plant them later or give them as gifts. Otherwise you could rent them or just buy fake ones. I would just put them in a pretty pot and have candles surrounding the base - nothing too fancy.

Reply:How about a clear glass vase filled with green glass beads then tucking pussy willow branches into the vase. It would be taller than 18" but that might be good because something at 18" will be right in the sightline of people across the table from each other. You want centerpieces to be below or above the sightline so it doesn't interfere with conversation.

Reply:I'm doing a branch centerpiece with candles around it. It looks a lot like this:

Just on a smaller scale and most likely without the crystals. I liked it because it was very natural, but also made a statement. My reception is in a hotel in a state park that is surrounded by woods, so I also liked the fact that these centerpieces mimicked the outdoors, since guests will be looking out onto the woods while dining. This option is also pretty inexpensive - I found vases at Walmart for 10 bucks each, and the sticks, depending on where you get them, are about 7 bucks a bunch.
You could use forest green and white votive candles around the centerpieces to incorporate your wedding colors. The dark brown will be brought out my the sticks.
I hope this helps. Good luck with your wedding. It really sounds lovely!
Reply:You could always pick your favorite branches right from your backyard. Use plaster to set them in your container.
Here is an instructional video on how to make a crystal wedding tree:

I really enjoy the tall centerpieces, and I find them easier to construct as well. Get a tall vase, a foam ball. put the flowers on the bottom edge, and branches taken from your backyard or purchased at your local craft store out the top. As seen here:

You can even spray paint the branches white, black, gold, silver. In your case, brown would help them have a more finished look!
Good Luck and Best Wishes!
