How can I rid my yard of rabbits?

Each year, my neighborhood gets more and more rabbits eating all of our beautiful flowers and plants. Unfortunately, this year, I have found several dead baby rabbits that I believe my dog got to. We have a fenced in yard and I let the dog out because I don't have time to walk every time. I feel so sad about the babies, but don't know what to do!

How can I rid my yard of rabbits?
Rabbits in the garden can be a major pest and there’s few things worse for a gardener and coming out to find Bugs has just finished chewing off the all the buds on your just-about-to-open flowers.

So how do you control this pest?

Fencing. A good wire fence that goes down into the ground at least six to eight inches and is three feet high will stop rabbits from getting into a garden. It has to be buried or they’ll do a little digging to find a hole through. And you might have to do a little careful patrolling on a regular basis.

Dogs and Cats Well, yes and no. Depends on the dog and cat. My old hunting cat at the farm would bring down rabbits with no problem but some of the other lazy ones would sniff at something that big. The Black Lab would take off chasing anything on four legs but the Old English Sheepdog couldn’t see it and if she did, wanted to make friends with it.

Guns Extremely effective but Elmer is not welcome within city limits. Seems that the neighbours get downright touchy about shotguns going off in their backyards.

Manure Well, maybe. I’m told that milorganite encircling your plants will protect those plants as rabbits won’t cross it. Variability depending on the weather.

Blood Meal Well, maybe. I’ve read reports of its effectiveness but it has never worked for me.

Foul tasting sprays Well maybe. Some seem to work and some don’t. It has to do with how often you spray (once they get a taste of unsprayed flowers, they seem to eat all the sprayed and unsprayed equally). Regular spraying works the best.

The higher the concentration of bitrex in the product, the better. You have to be diligent about this – spraying after a rain and continually refreshing the spray at least once a week even if it doesn’t rain. And don’t bother spraying your vegetables; you won’t like the taste either.

Feed them And your rabbits have to have an alternate food source. If your garden is the food source in the area – you’re toast. If there’s a lot of clover nearby, you will have an easier time moving them to alternate dining facilities. So feed them plus use deterrents.

Trap them This works on the shoulder seasons when food is scarce and through the winter months. Mind you, once you trap them you have to kill them because moving them out of your neighbourhood is simply slow killing them or torturing them. Instead of a fast humane death, they’ll wind up torn to bits by dogs or supper for owls. Take responsibility for your actions -- if you decide to trap follow through.

Best advice Fence! If you can't or won't fence, then combine several of the above. Make sure they have alternate sources of food and spray like heck with something foul tasting. Do it regularly to control rabbits in the garden.

Reply:Sulfur powder works the best for me. It keeps out lots of different critters and crawlers! I am terrified of snakes and such so I sprinkle it around my fence and yard. The smell isnts strong enough for you to really smell but the critters cant stand it. You can get it at your local hardware store. Poor baby bunnies, its good you are trying to help them! Bravo!

Reply:theres atoy called a whirlygig they sell at craft shows its like a weathervane for the yard but after yoyu stick one in the yard it makes noise as it turns and drives out moles andrabbits because the vibrations pass thru the ground like a predator vibe as in weasel or ferret ,, also theres a mole smoke bomb at the Tractor supply Co and its to drive out moles and rabbits , and then theres marigolds they are like a stink-bomb to rodents they hate the smel,l plant some around the yard on each corner and the smell drives the rabbits and groundhogs away,, or call or write the nearest zoo with big cats and buy a pound of lion or tiger scat its expensive but a dab in a cheesecloth bag hung on a stick, will drive out all the animals from your yard ,, or use blood meal as a fertilizer its in bags at the garden center or home depot ,,sprinkle along the fence and the rabbits smell it and stay a way , it will add nutrients to the soil and beds and yard ,, enough tips huh ,,or theres a rabbit spray to keep them out at the petco or the depot ,,an olde dude ,,

Reply:Dude! Easters coming up. The rabbits should leave when they get through hiding all their rabbit eggs.

Actually, leave your dog out more. Sure a few rabbits will get chewed up, but the rest will leave after a few days of steady presence of a dog.

Should I bother the new mama robin?

A robin has built a nest on our hose reeler (it's attached to the house) that is right in the middle of a flower bed. We have not put up the hose or worked in the flower bed becuase we didn't want to disturb the robin or the 3 eggs she was sitting on. Now the eggs have hatched and we have 4-day old baby birds. Will it disturb the mother robin if we put up the hose and start working in the flower bed? I don't want the babies to be deserted if we spend too much time in such close proximity of the nest.

Should I bother the new mama robin?
I've been breeding birds since 2001. Chicks are adorable when they start growing their feathers! Some birds are very adaptable and nothing phases them, like barn swallows. Silly buggers built a nest over my parents' cottage door one year and continually dive bombed my dad as he went about his work in the garden!

With your situation, the best thing to do is let the birds be. The birds will eventually leave - in your case I'd in about a month. Most birds (especially songbirds, like the robin) have a very poor sense of smell, so don't worry about your smell disturbing the hen and chicks. Most birds are very visual creatures. I'd worry more about a bag fluttering across the lawn or a neighborhood cat more than anything else. If you routinely disturb the hen she may kill the chicks out of frustration. More than likely she'll just take off, leaving the chicks with no-one to feed them and she'll start a new clutch elsewhere. It's cruel, but it insures that chicks AND the parents survive into the next season.

When the chicks fledged, they'll be completely feathered and it may look like their parents abandoned them. Always leave them be. Mom and dad are often hiding in the trees and with some bird species, the parents will feed their chicks once or twice a day. If it's been over 24 hours and the chicks look very weak, I'd call a rehabilitation center :-) .

Good luck with your new 'neighbors'!
Reply:ya just leave it be, its only a short time shes there, and what a neat thing to watch from a distance, you may be able to get some good photos with a long lense. your flowers will wait. ps. birds dont smell , ive picked babies back up and put them back in nests before, parents will come back, unless there is something wrong with them
Reply:Leave it alone, because if you even touch the nest, she'll abandon her babies. She'll smell your human scent on the nest and leave the nest permanently.
Reply:yea leave it alone or wait till they leave.
Reply:Have had several funny experiences with mad mother robins. They will fly at you and dive bomb you if you bother them.

Leave her alone and when the babies are fledged, they will eat bugs from in and around your garden. Hook up your hose at night when she is roosting on the nest. Stay as far away from her and the nest as possible in the daytime. Make her comfortable and she will make another nest nearby this year.
Reply:awwwww no wait til they leave. awww that would be sooo cute. I think you should leave it alone.
Reply:You can call the DEC-- Department Of Environmental Conservation and ask but you might be able to relocate them.. They have info numbers... check the blue government pages in your phone book or go right to their site!!
Reply:wait till the lil birds have grown up at least they can fly

poor things r u gonna kill them or what???
Reply:Let it be...let it be...let it be...let it be(That's what John Lennon would say)
Reply:you can work near the nest but try not to touch anything within 4 feet of nest

What are you getting your difficult man for VD?

My honey hates the whole flowers/candy/stuffed animal thing -

so I got him some baby bamboo trees I saw him staring at recently

and hand-made him a card with a poem I wrote

What are you getting your difficult man?

What are you getting your difficult man for VD?
From his girl on Valentine's Day any guy would appreciate a simple card, or food such as a chocolate cake. Avoid the gaudy laced cards or gifts; and avoid the sickly sweet candy with the lame sayings on them. Most guys like practical gifts: a movie pass; a subway pass; gift certificates at restaurants or bars, etc.

Basically Valentine's Day is a women's event and not really for guys.
Reply:Card %26amp; Candy... keep it simple %26amp; also, showing I luv him.
Reply:Antibiotics
Reply:That's a pretty nice gift, I must say.

I'm going to give him a sculpy noteholder (its dorky; a little t-rex holding a heart), a geeky card with html on it, and a handmade stuffed 'vintage' Koi. Oh, the student budget. :P

...Re-reading that looks so weird. Haha. Hope you have a nice Valentine's day! :)

Winter wedding colour theme?

I need some help as I like all these. Which one do you like best?

Raspberry red with silver or gold or pink

Medium blue with silver or gold or lavender

Violet %26amp; gold

Green %26amp; white

pink %26amp; ?

These are the flowers I'm considering-red roses, red tulips, violets, lavender, baby pink rose buds, lily of the valley, gardenias

Winter wedding colour theme?
Violet and gold would look gorgeous !
Reply:You should really narrow down your flower choices. There is a lot going on and you don't want things to become crowded. Shades of blue and lavender with silver or gold would be very nice - you could use silver or gold candleabras for the centerpieces. Silver is more of a winter color than gold - because of the snow, etc.
Reply:Red Tulips are beautiful! I love any colored Tulips...my flowers were purple Tulips.

I think the Rasberry red with silver sounds nice.
Reply:Red %26amp; gold - nice %26amp; classic
Reply:I'd vote for the blue and silver or the violet and gold.

Are you sure you want a winter wedding? The only reason I'm asking is the flowers you have listed, tulips, violets, lavendar, lily of the valley, these are all spring flowers. You are either going to pay dearly to get them or be very dissappointed when you can't get them.

You don't say where you are from, but if you are in a 'cold winter' state you definitely are going to have problems with the delicateness of those flowers as well. They are not going to do well going from very cold to warm and back again and again. They will wilt, turn brown and just downright look bad by the time you get your pictures taken.

Re-think your flower selections if you have your heart set on a winter wedding, otherwise pick a warmer date.

Good Luck
Reply:When I think of a winter wedding it is natural for me to see red in it.

Plus, when my cousin had a winter wedding, the bridesmaids wore red dresses.
Reply:red or blue with silver (blue would look icy, red looks classy)

If you do red, go with white/off white flowers for the bridesmaids and red for you (roses would be nice)

With blue you could do pinks, violets and blues in flowers (may be less expensive than red and white roses)
Reply:I am a fan of the medium blue with silver, and also lavender (so you have a color for your flowers). It will be winter, without being holiday-esque.
Reply:I'm voting for Raspberry and Gold....I picture gold embossed stationary with matching Raspberry ribbons....all the girls in rich Raspberry dresses and gold ribbon around their waist.....2 words of advice....1.with gold accent it's very easy to go overboard and up looking like a bad Vegas buffet after all the ministers leave....and 2. People and I do mean all people young/old drunk/sober they like to say the word Raspberry and they usually stick their tongue out and spit when they do......Congratulations.
Reply:Blue/Silver with white gardenia flowers would be very classy! Lots of tulle, lots of white lights/candles, tables sprinked in silver confetti/silver wrapped chocolates would be easy decorating ideas.

One warning though- gardenias turn brown quite easily and they are one of the more expensive flowers :(

I wanted gardenias for mine, but after seeing the cost, I opted for star gazers and white roses.
Reply:Raspberry or blue with silver
Reply:red with gold or violet and gold and flowers go with red roses and gardinia and orkids ... for the violet go with lavender and violets and or gardinias
Reply:I hope you aren't on a tight budget because all of those flowers are going to be outragously priced in winter time (if the florst can even get them)...either that or learn to fall in love with silks real fast.

I vote Green and white. A hunter green, a mid-range pine green, and white. Its white for snow and green for evergreen trees and you use pine or holly in your florals.

Red has been the color at alsmost every wedding I've worked/been to in the last year. Blue works well for winter but is one of the most common colors chosen for it. Violet and gold...there are few violet flowers in season in winter time and most of them just scream "SPRING" and gold flowers just look tacky. Pink..most grooms hate pink and to be honest I've had enough of the pepto bismol receptions.
Reply:this may depend a lot on your location. if there is a chance of snow, you may want to stick with warmer colors to make everything more vibrant.

persoanlly, i think that silver, blue, and lavender/lilac is a beautiful winter combination. violets, forget me knots, lavender springs, and white roses would make some amazing bouquets.
Reply:I would go with the Raspberry and gold. It is warm and inviting for a cool winter wedding! Congrats!
Reply:I like the red with silver or gold. Keep in mind that if you order flowers out of season your costs are going to increase.

the book's called "get pregnant in 30 days"
Reply:sorry, if i was able to choose the best answer it would have been the other one.

the correct title is "HER DAUGHTER'S EYES"... Report It

Reply:"Her Mother's Eyes" by Jessica Barksdale Inclan. "Kate Phillips--17 years old, unmarried, and pregnant--and her younger sister Tyler have been abandoned by their parents. Cancer took their beloved mother two years before, and their father has emotionally left them, choosing to spend his time with his new girlfriend and her two young boys, returning to his home and daughters sporadically to leave money and assuage his guilty conscience. Tyler and Kate deliver Kate's baby girl all alone, in their quiet suburban house, their BMW silently parked in the garage. Kate insists that her baby's existence must remain hidden, but inevitably, the sisters' secrets are discovered, involving the police and children's protective services. Whether their father will retain custody of his two underage daughters, whether Kate will retain custody of her new baby daughter, and whether the father of Kate's child will remain out of jail are all questionable."

Romantic valentines date?

so tonight i met a woman at her house and brough her flowers for her as well as her 5 year old baby girl. she's 27, i'm 22..but we connected really well, and she is drop dead gorgeous. We had an amazing shrimp pasta, and I brought over a perfect mix of love songs for us to listen to. I ended the night by tucking her little girl into bed and reading her a bed time story. Then we watched a movie and had chocolate strawberries. We really wanted to have more romance, but I didn't want to wake up her little girl. How long should I wait before our next date? Does anyone else find this romantic..or is it cheesey??

best of luck!!
Reply:it's not romantic, but it is ssssssssooooooooooooooooo perfect. a man who will do that is the perfect guy. as a "child" myself, i'm 13, i love when my mom's boyfriends are really nice to me, like you were. this one time this guy got my sister and i a box of chocolates and flower for valentine's day. he got my mom the same thing, but her package had jewelry. i liked him, but i knew something was totally wrong. He happened to have a so of his own, who happened to be my bf at the time. oops! i didn't meet his parents until he thought i was worth it. once again oops! my mom and I both broke up with our bfs. any who, that's not cheesy at all.

Whoever can do this wins best answer for this question . . .?

Hi, would like to ask a favour of you. I would like a specific blogskin but i dunno how so was wondering if anyone out there could help. I basically wanted a black background and some thin pink candy stripes or cotton candy stripes, if you know what i mean on 1 side of the skin. Then overlapping about 1/4 of the pink stripes, add a few butterflies, flowers, hearts and kisses. They must all be in a baby pink colour and please don't put any human or animal pictures inside and don't answer this question anyhow cause its an emergency. So the basic colours in the skin are black, pink and white unless you take the cotton candy stripes, please put blue butterflies instead and the stripes the colours are a little like yellow, purple, pink, green, blue and they are all not the same size. Thanks alot

Preserving Bridal Bouquet?

I'm looking to preserve my bridal bouquet. After the wedding, my new husband and I are driving back home the next day (5 hour trip), then flying out to our honeymoon the day after that, which will go from Sunday to Sunday.

I'm interested in using Silica Gel, however will it cause problems since we'll be gone for at least 9 days?

If so, what is good to use that will last that long that will still maintain the fresh color and look of my bouquet?

The flowers I am using are hydrangeas, marigolds, roses and some baby's breath.

Thank you.

Preserving Bridal Bouquet?
I don't really know the answer, but you might want to give the job to someone in your bridal party since after the wedding is your honeymoon and you shouldn't have to be worrying about your bouquet.
Reply:To me, it's a waste of money. I would just save one flower of each type and put them into a frame with a picture of the bouquet.

If you want it done perfectly, try a LARGE local florist. Some of them offer a feeze drying service.

First time mom anxiety...help?

I'm really nervous about being a new mom at the age of 19 and I'm not sure I will always know what to do and how to tell if she has an ear infection or a cold or anything. what are some symptoms of common baby illnesses, and how can i help prevent them? i know she will get sick, but is there anything i can do to lessen the risk of something serious or chronic?

also, i wanted to put a plant in the baby room because my fiance and i like plants. is bamboo baby safe? or maybe even a flowering plant, like a gerber daisy?

First time mom anxiety...help?
I had my first baby at 19 too......

If you want to keep your baby from getting sick there are a few things you can do

1. Make sure everyone washes their hands (even you!) before they touch the baby. Wash after each diaper change, obviously!

2. Keep sick people away from the baby.

3. Don't allow anyone to smoke in your house/avoid smoky places.

4. Keep her warm, dry, and properly fed.

5. Sterilize her bottles, toys, pacifier in boiling water or run through the dishwasher.

6. Don't let anyone stick the pacifier in their mouth and then put it in the baby's mouth. I had a friend do that and it's GROSS!

You'll know when the baby is sick, trust me! She'll be fussy and have a fever, cough, whatever. If she tugs or pulls at her ears, take her to the doctor. She might have an ear infection.

Ask your doctor and they can help you to figure out when she's ill.

If you put a plant in her room, make sure it's nowhere near her crib. Babies can move more than you'd think and some plants are poisonous! Keep it out of her reach.

Get a copy of "What to Expect the First Year". It's very helpful.

Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:Dont put a flower in her room. Babies can be allergic to many different things and when they are itty bitty it can be dangerous. I always put poly-vi-sol vitamins ( i think thats how it's spelled) Into my sons bottle once a day. they are liquid vitamins made by Enfamil. They come with extra iron or just regular. They can be put into formula, milk or juice depending on if your baby is old enough to drink milk or juice. Viatmins help keep anyone healthy :) Also dont drag her out shopping or diff places if you dont HAVE to. Hope this helps.
Reply:it takes time to get the hang of being a mommy it took me a week to tell that my daughter had a ear infection...by the time i took her to the doc it was almost gone..he said any way sometimes its better to wait a ear infection off and if it doesnt get better then take her in im sure youll do fine! congrats
Reply:I'm not a mom, but my friend who's a mom got a some books on being a first time mom at her baby shower that she said was helpful. You may want to do a search on Amazon.com for some or go to your local library. I'm sure you'll be find. Congratulations and well wishes!
Reply:Relax, you will do just fine as long as you are an attentive mother (sounds like you will be :) There really isn't a lot you can do to prevent her from developing a chronic disease, most of them are genetic or a result of not treating an acute illness. The best thing you can do is have a reference book on hand to help you decipher symptoms that may warrant a call to the Dr. There are tons of them out there just ask an associate at Barnes %26amp; Noble and they can point you in the right direction. As far as the plants they are just fine to put in the baby's room and to be honest the earlier she is exposed to things (same as pet dander) the less likely she is to develop allergies to them. Just be sure it isn't a poisonous plant (bamboo and gerbra daisies are fine). You are going to be a great mom, I had my first child at 19 and now I'm a pro with a wonderful family, my own in-home daycare, and more often than not others turn to me for advice in dealing with their chidren :)
Reply:There is so much to say. I remember the first time I was a mom. Yes, I was young. Worse in a foreign country that I new little English. So many of the answers you have here are correct.

One: always not only talk to your doctors, hospitals, family and friends...but research a bit. So much is available. Above all...don't fear, but rejoice. You and your fella have created a new life. Remember that a baby needs TLC, food, shelter, love et al above all attention. The worse illness I faced was the cholic, which I advise using peppermint tea...luke warm. Relieves the gas better than any product on the market.

Keep you temper, and make anyone that has a problem with the screaming baby...and they do scream...to go to another room where it doesn't bother them.

Of all the things a child faces today that I can think worse than anything is abuse. Parents should take turns so as not to be overwhelmed. The rest of the childhood problems are normal, get the innoculations required on time. (They won't vaccinate if the child is ill, so don't worry about that). Make sure you have the basics on hand: ie: baby tylenol (liquid), a head thermometer (more cause I think it is less traumatic for the child), a bath thermometer so the water is not too cold or hot, keep your baby clothed in seasonal clothing, but always bring extra clothes (and diapers galore) for weather changes et al. Rashes are the worst. Use an over-the-counter product containing five percent benzoyl peroxide. Hmm...there's so much to tell, mainly don't worry. All kids get ill, get the usual childhood diseases. As for plants, pets et al. Make sure the child is not allergic through allergy tests or personal family histories to avoid certain things. Check with a florist for baby/pet safe plants. Don't put toxic plants near or where they can get at them...ie)poinsettia's. As far as I know bamboo and daisies are safe...at least till the baby can grab them. Use the below link for more help.
Reply:I WOULD NOT PUT ANY PLANTS IN THE BABIES ROOM. WHAT IF SHE IS ALLERGIC TO THE PLANT. (I WOULD ASK THE DOC FIRST)

KEEP HER HEALTHY BY KEEPING HER SHOTS UP TO DATE AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO COME SEE HER WASH THERE HANDS AND ARE NOT ILL OR GETTING ILL WHEN THEY COME OVER.

SHE WILL GET SICK AT ONE POINT AND I KNOW WITH MY BABY SHE WILL GET A RUNNING NOSE AND THAT IT ALMOST ALWAYS A SIGN FOR ME THAT SHE MAY HAVE AN EAR INFECTION. BABIES WILL NORMALLY PULL AT THE EAR THAT HURTING THEM AS WELL. JUST WATCH FOR THESE SIGN AND OTHER YOUR BABY MIGHT GIVE YOU. AS THE MOM YOU WILL KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH YOUR BABY. I KNOW I DO. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS YOU WILL BE A GREAT MOMMY!!
Reply:I think a plant in the babies room would be fine *until*she starts crawling- once they are mobile the baby room, and really the rest of the house, needs to be kept baby proof-

Also with the illnesses- for ears, pay attention to when and how the baby is crying, if she is tugging at her ears or trying to always put a finger in it, it could be an indication of irritation. Also there might be increased redness-

Do not worry too much, my neice was full of anxiety over her first baby, when he was about a month old she saw a brand new, brown mark on his leg. She flipped out. Called our local ER saying "My son has cancer I need to bring him in, he got a new mark on his leg that was not there before, I know about skin cancer and color changes and all that, we will be in, in 5 mins." as her mother (the grandmther)was getting him dressed, she looked at it also, using her finger nail to scratch it, the peice of, whatever it was, came off. She told her daughter "dont worry, false alarm."

HAHA that story cracked me up! thought I would share it with ya.
Reply:I don't have a clue on the plant thing. Probably a good idea to ask on your next doc visit. But if you live in a cold climate area. PLEASE bundle up your baby when taking her outside. I get so mad when I see little babies out in the cold with no hats to protect their heads and ears. Their faces all red from the cold. Keeping the baby warm at all times will definitely cut down on sicknesses. Always washing your hands as well as making sure anyone else that touches her does the same. And anytime you think she may be sick, take her to the doc. Better safe than sorry.

GOOD LUCK!!!
Reply:don't worry hun! You will be just fine! Everybody worries about that stuff and NOBODY knows the answers to those questions before they have kids. Just follow your gut. If you every suspect something is wrong. Take the baby to the doctor. If it turns out to be no big deal...then you haven't lost anything, but you gained peace of mind. I think a plant would be lovely in your baby's room! I'm not a plant expert....but I thnk either one would be fine!
Reply:They fuss and cry when not feeling good. You will learn to distinquish between a hungry cry and a i'm wet and i'm sick cry. don't be nervous just relax.Be sure you know what you can and can't feed her the first year. Some thing's can cause allergie's if eaten too early. The same for thing's that you and dad are allergic too she could be too.As for an ear infection they will pull at the ear cry and fuss.a cold will cause a runny nose.if it turns a greenish color it's dr. time. But you are very caring so you'll do fine ask your mom and his; other mom's you know and follow your instincts a mom always knows best. Good Luck and God Bless. And i almost for got no plant's it could cause allergies
Reply:With ear-infections YOU WILL KNOW! I had one and they are extremely painful. Your baby will not stop screaming I am sure.

You will know she has a cold because her nose will run, or she will cough. This is not a big deal. Just watch for changes to her behaviour. Extreme tiredness or crankiness, or even just not seeming like herself are reasons to go to the doctor.

You can put any kind of plant you want in the babies room. You may want to consider hanging it from the ceiling (not over the crib) that way your baby can see it, and later on won't be able to eat the plant and dirt. Not that eating the plant or dirt will be bad, or that your baby won't eat the plants and dirt in the park, but you know.

Breastfeeding will reduce sickness. Also if you breastfeed take extra vitamin C, good for both of you (your baby will get theirs from your milk). And there is *some* evidence that it prevents SIDS.

As for whether, when, which, or if to vaccinate that is your decision. You need to decide on your own.

My #1 piece of advice is: Listen to that little voice inside, you will learn to seperate it from the paranoid voice. When the little voice says something is wrong LISTEN and make your doctor LISTEN.

God is all around us?

I hear things like this offered all the time by christians as "evidence" of god's existence:

"God is real, just look around at all the beauty....The Sky, the trees and flowers. How can you look at the miracle of a newborn baby and deny the existence of god?".

Question: How is that different from an ancient egyptian using this as evidence of Ra?:

"Ra is real, just look around at all the beauty....The Sky, the trees and flowers. How can you look at the miracle of a newborn baby and deny the existence of Ra?".

God is all around us?
God is all around us? Dang!!! Did he see me take a poop this morning? How embarrassing!

Reply:Well, I see your point, but Ra is not real. If you read the bible there was a test between Elijah and the profits of Ra. They both built an alter and the called on there god. The profits went first. They called for Ra to burn the alter until they were horse. Then Elijah had them drench his alter with water. Then he called on God and He answered. God sent fire down to the alter, and that alter was burned, even though it was wet it still was on fire.

It is hard to believe in something you can't see, but that is where faith comes in. I have faith in God. He spared my life many times.

God is all around us, but we can't see Him, we can only see His work.
Reply:Worship of Ra has ceased, because Ra was not real. Had Ra been real, He would have seen to it that his followers would not have disappeared. People of the Word, aka Christians and Jews are still alive and kicking. If you ever look around and can't find any Christians or Jews, then and only then can you truthfully say that God was not real.
Reply:Cuz RA is not His name!!
Reply:And what would it look like if he was not all around us? That's my question.
Reply:perhaps you should reply:

"Yes- the world is beautiful.

and which ancient diety do you believe is responsible?"
Reply:Ra was never named as the creator.

so it would be usless to use that in reference to his existence.

good try though.

Decorating for outdoor gazebo wedding?

The colors are light/dark blue, baby pink, and yellow. I haven't decided on flowers. It is a summer wedding next year. We are having the ceremony outdoors at this beautiful gazebo! I have no idea what to decorate it with. Anyone hav any ideas?

Decorating for outdoor gazebo wedding?

Reply:Flowers are a nice touch and can go with various wedding styles and themes. What about scattering rose petals on the floor? If you buy small flowerpots to line the walkway, aisle, or perimeter of the gazebo, you can fill them with fresh flowers, perhaps the same kind of flowers you will use in your bouquet. This will provide an attention to detail known as continuity, which is noticed by guests. Imitation flower garlands, often sold cheaply at thrift or craft stores, are another unique way to decorate the gazebo to fit your theme or style.

Ribbon is affordable and will add versatility to wedding gazebo decorating efforts. Buy a thick ribbon and swag it around the rafters. With so many colors and patterns available, you can find a ribbon that will tie in to your bridal-party colors. You might also consider a wire-based ribbon that you can actually form into a shape.

Gazebo party decorations can be extended and attached to the chairs inside rather than the structure itself. This is a great way to satisfy picky owners who insist that there be no tacking or taping on their gazebo. You could put flower bunches on the backs of the chairs, tie a ribbon on each chair, leave a favor on each seat, sprinkle confetti over the chairs, or decorate the aisle with ribbon or tulle. You could even arrange items like flowerpots, shells, or leaves on the aisle borders. Get creative and think of unique objects you can use when wedding gazebo decorating.

For truly unique wedding decorations, think outside the box. When decorating a gazebo for wedding guests to enjoy at a reception, or to view during the wedding ceremony, remember that the sky is the limit. Whatever wedding gazebo decorating plan you choose, your gazebo party decorations are sure to add life and a wealth of sparkling detail to your big day.
Reply:Do white frosted xmas lights wrapped around the gazebo. If you have a while between setup and actual ceremony time (if it will be warm), I recommend using faux flowers, as they will save you a bit of money and not wilt so quickly. You could use a bit of shimmery tulle, to accent the sides, make it look a bit like a bedroom canopy/mosquito net.

Now, if the gazebo is totally gorgeous, don't worry about decorating it (I think about the gazebo Owen Wilson made in Meet The Parents).....

Reply:Lots of flowers in all your colors. lots of tulle and if the wedding is in the evening, why not do some clear lights strung all around it?

What Should I Get My Girlfriend For Valentines?

We have been together for about 3 years already...We Have a Baby boy already...I have gotten her jewlery , cards , flowers, etc. I want to give her somethingg special ..any ideas?

What Should I Get My Girlfriend For Valentines?
Do something personal! Make it yourself or have your baby boy help make something for Momma! Check out this site for some cute crafty ideas that you can do with your child or on your own!

http://apartments.typepad.com/my_pad/val...
Reply:Girls love sentimentality- don't worry about giving her something pricey or material symbols of "Valentine's Day". Give her something that celebrates your relationship together-- something from a time you were together or just the fact that you ARE together.. it could be some pictures in a small scrapbook or take her out for an evening at a special place you two have (such as the place you first met, or where you love to go together). Good luck!
Reply:You know what to give her : )~
Reply:Do something creative this time. If you are musically inclined, write a song. If not, try writing a poem or maybe drawing a portrait. If you're not very artistic, then try to find a gift that would be special for her, something personal that she would only understand.
Reply:panties. let her know that after all this time and all you been through together that you still only think of her as "a good time"
Reply:the only two things left are a car or a house
Reply:Get him/her a gift certificate to Bath Junkie. That place allows you to make your own "customized" scent either in lotion, oil or soap fashion.

curosity note - be sure to check out the Dirt Scent, seriously it smells like dirt.

I have dark brown furniture and i wanna paint my room pale pink almost like ivory white?

i have dark brown furtiture pieces and dark brown flooring so i was thinking of painting my room a pastel pink. the room is not so big because of its odd 6 wall shape :) so it will look bigger and i have a queen sized bed, a dresser mirror a night stand and i chest dresser that i will be painting brown with pink and yellow flowers on it(more pink though and light green leaves) any ideas for the bedding? what color sheets? pillow cases?i want room colors to be pastel pink, and dark pink liek a fuscia and pale yellow w/ hints of green high lights. what do you think? so maybe light pink sheets and 2 dark pink pillow cases and 2 yellow pillow cases since i have 4 pillows and what color comforter?? should the comforter be dark pink too? im 16. and i dont want anything too childish on the nightstand i will buy a baby pink lamp shade and paint yellow and dark pink flowers on it! also i will have framed black and white art of audrey hephburn and elvis in dark pink frames w/ flowers painted.

I have dark brown furniture and i wanna paint my room pale pink almost like ivory white?
Do not paint flowers on your furniture. If you feel you must do something else, replace knobs with pink crystal knobs. A mix of flowers with stripes of the colors you want in your bedding. Pink walls would look great with dark brown furniture. Keep the flowers to a minimum and go with stripes or dots if you don't want it to look too childish. Love the B%26amp;W pics in dark pink frames, again loose the flowers.
Reply:It sounds very pretty, but don't go too far with the pink. The pale pink walls (almost a creamy white) would be great. Then the accents of pale pink and fuchsia are wonderful. But have just that, accents; too much pink can overwhelm a room and look babyish.

This was my dream. Does mean something of importance?

I along with several other people were brought to a place on a mission. Don't know what kind of a place just know its a place with many doors. The person who was leading all of us, reminded me that I should bring my bible. I grabbed my bible and followed everyone else into this place. First we went in the front door.

Our Mission; Jesus had just died. But there is no time zone here. Only a bunch of unopened doors. We must find Jesus and that is our only mission, nothing else! Jesus had died for our sins, and the FBI had already searched for him and failed in attempt. We were advised on our efforts of praying if we needed to, and how to pray the right way. This was crucial!

As soon as I walked through the front door,Everyone that had come in with me was talking to some women who were already here. It seemed ok. Our group began to trust these women on hope that we would help us find Jesus. But when they led us into a room that was not the room with Jesus, we noticed we had been tricked!

The next room was rather dark, kind of eerie and a little bit creepy, but did not seem to bad. There were spirits in this room above us standing on some metal piping. It looked like it was a place of work that maybe they had died in. They were cruel. Aiming broken bottles and spitting at us. We were all urged to leave this room.

I told everyone in the group that I believed Jesus was hidden in a tall upright closet that the police must of missed...although I had no proof, I was bound to be proven wrong. Everytime I was led in a way whether in my thoughts or by someone else, These three ladies would appear and show me the right way. I did not understand why they had come to correct in me this point of my dream.

The group began down a dirty white hall way where the dead were walking and attacking people in the group. I was struck with fear when one grabbed my arm. I screamed and pulled away running to a white box in the middle of the room that my entire group had fled to. I looked inside. This box was full of money! "The root of all evil." I thought to myself. I picked up a stack in curiosity and quickly put it down. I reminded myself my only mission here was to find Jesus. I was approached by the three women again in pursuit to correct me, but again I did not understand and the faded away.

I continued down the hall way where it had started to dim a little and at this point I was beginning to wake up forcing myself to finish this dream! I noticed that every member in my group was gone and I was continuing in alone. They had all stayed in the room with the undead and the box with money inside.

I continued through to a beautifully designed gate. I opened it and noticed that it opened into a huge room where the walls and ceiling met into a swirling motion (without the motion.) The room was white, palace like, with baby blue shadows and it was filled with beautiful flowers, plants and was beautifully landscaped. This room had hills and was not flat by any means.

I walked up the path to the center of the room and saw Jesus lying on a flat stone as if he'd been layed there to mourn. It was at that moment I finally realized those three women who kept trying to correct me, were trying to tell me that my so called psychic prediction was not of faith but by the hand of the devil, and Jesus in front of me lying on a stone and not in an upright closet was proof that I needed my faith to find him, not a prediction. Everything made sense at this point. I had over come, trickery and temptation and I learned a lesson in faith.

I began to ask God before Jesus for forgiveness. This also a lesson to be learned. I asked for forgiveness of my sins and confessed my love for God and Jesus. Everytime I prayed something wrong, Jesus would turn into a corpse. If I did right, Jesus looked peaceful, clean and at rest. I learned to do it right very quickly for I couldn't stand the sight of him as a corpse rotting. When I finished, a beautiful staircase appeared. Like ones you could only pay the best price for. At the top was a door white and full of fog. I walked up the stairs to see where they led. No I did not go to Heaven...instead it led me out of this place I was in and into a green lawn with alot of hills. My family stood at the top of the tallest hill smiling and waiting for me. I had found Jesus.

This was my dream. Does mean something of importance?
I had simliar dream sequences. They were separate dreams. But instead of listening to others about God and Jesus, I trusted that God was everywhere, " If i were to make my bed in Hell, Thou would be there with me". So I stayed where I was at and trusted God as I kneeled to pray to him. I trusted that those around me would only harm me if it was God's will. The demons were trying to make my prayer faulter by saying things that were twisted along the lines of the scripture I was quoting. But I kept on praying while I was surrounded by them.

And then, God took them away, as if an invisible wall blocked them from my sight.

Do you remember the story about Peter and Jesus at the end of John's Gospel where Jesus asked Peter if he loved him? have you ever heard about that in a message? What Peter was doing is saying that he loved jesus like a brother. By the time the conversation ended, Jesus had lowered his term of what could be called unconditional love to brotherly love, Jesus was willing to lower himself to the level of Peter. That's what I am getting at. He will come to me because he cares about me. He's the Deliverer! You can see that even in the Old Testament. God can be counted on when we are in trouble.
Reply:I think that you need to shut the TV off.

Hell, I had a dream last week that the apocalypse occurred and I was burning in hell. Then I woke up to find that I was very overheated because someone had left the heat on too high and I had on a heavy blanket.
Reply:All this in 8 hours? I'm lucky if I dream "half" what you did, but as for your dream, feel confident in the Lord is it's meaning....."
Reply:If your scared go to church :)

Has any one made Bouquets ?

I really want to make my own bouquets so me and my friance's family can bond together and it is cheaper. Did you do it? Was it hard, and can you buy real baby breath and greenery to use with the real flowers.? I am using roses, red and white. Thanks for your help. ( A confused Bride 2 Be)

Has any one made Bouquets ?
Maiking a simple hand clutch of roses and babies breath is easy. Go purchase roses, babies breath and greens from your local florist. Also purchase floral tape (stem tape) from either your florist or a local craft store. Hold your first rose in your hand , surround it with babies breath. put four more roses around it, more babies breath. keep adding roses in until youve added them all, making it evenly round and have babies breath seperating each rose. put the greens on the outside, and use the stem tape to bind it (you kind of have to stretch it as you wrap, this makes it stick together) cover the stem tape woth some nice ribbon (secure it with straight pins). cut the stems to the desired length.

email me: femalechevellelover@yahoo.com i can send you some pictures of ones ive done
Reply:i made some for my sister's party.....and i clumped bunch of roses together with the leaves provided

Reply:there not hard at all. you will need floral type, floral wire, and maybe holders. you can find all these items at your local craft store. a flower shop can help you to. some even offer free classes. here are some site you can go to for ideas. http://www.bridalchoice.com/wedding_how-... http://interiordec.about.com/cs/weddingd...

hope this helps.
Reply:You can buy premade silk bouqets at Joanns for around 12 dollars a peice. they are small and would be perfect for your bridal party. I did make my own and it turned out beautiful. I used lilac colored roses and white roses. I tried to alternate every other color, and I used silk baby's breath. the greens that I used where the rose leaves. I didn't go all out for mine it was simple and elegant. I have even had offers to make more for people.
Reply:i would look at bouquets on web sites like theknot or martha stewart wedding to get ideas of what exactly you want it to look like. You can also try to get flower arrangement books from your local library.
Reply:When I was going back and forth on whether or not to make my bouquets, I was assured by my aunt (a professional florist) that putting together a bouquet would be very simple for me to do. In the end, I decided to go with silks for the bridal party, but I did the arrangements myself, and it was so much fun! I have talked to several brides that did their own flowers %26amp; it saved money %26amp; provided great bonding time for the bridal party that helped out.

Another option are "realistic touch" roses if you are nervous about real ones. That's what I used, and they are fantastic. It's easy to undo any mistakes that may happen during the arrangement process.
Reply:I went and took a non credit class in floral arranging at our local technical college. It was easy to learn. There are a lot of good books out there with illustrations to follow on how to's. I've been doing weddings on the side for a few years now. I did my nephews wedding as a wedding gift to him. It would of cost them over $7000 for all the arrangements and decorations I did for them. It turned out real nice. Just make sure you have a cool place to store the flower arrangements when you are done making them so they last. I suggest that you make two boutonnieres for the groom. One for the ceremony and one for the reception. They tend to wilt if you are not experienced at making them. Good luck and have fun making them.
Reply:i did it with my last wedding you can find all you need at walmart in the flower section
Reply:I had no choice my wedding was at 3pm and my flowers were brought to me at 11 am with half dead lavender roses. My maid of honor and I went to the floral dept in Walmart, yes Walmart of all places, and bought 2 dozen exotic roses and completely remade everything. It was easy. We used floral tape and foam to stick the flowers in. You can buy the baby's breath and greenery at a florist.

Good Luck.
Reply:I have never made them but how hard could they be?
Reply:You can go to any hobby/ craft store that carries silk flowers. They will also have books that give you step by step directions. My mom made my bouquets and they were beautiful and I was able to save them. You don't also have to worry about then going bad like you do with real flowers.

Calling all GREEN-THUMBS!!?

I bought a house about 8 months ago %26amp; I haven't done a thing to it.. the outside that is!!

I want to start caring for my lawn %26amp; planting flowers and all that good stuff..

But the honest truth is.....

I have NEVER done this before!

I need ideas on some easy things to do -such as flowers to plant %26amp; should I plant them around my two baby trees (tree's are about 5 yrs old) OR should I just put mulch in the ground around the trees so the trees can grow better..

I have no idea ..

PS

Try to keep it short N sweet %26amp; simple.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Oh I'm in Austin, TX and it gets super hot so IDK if that matters, I'm sure it does.

Calling all GREEN-THUMBS!!?
%26lt;waving from San Antonio%26gt; Howdy neighbor. I'm zone 9a, you appear to be 8b.

Easy thing to start with are bulbs. Stay away from Tulips unless you want to dig them up EVERY year and put them in your frig to hibernate for like 4 months. Crocus, Iris and Gladiolas do great.

Here is a list of nurseries, find a place that is close to you and just do some browsing. When something catches your eye, write down the name and either ask one of the folks there or go home and look it up. If you are going to ask the folks working there, do it during a slow time. Saturdays and Sundays are not slow times so they won't be able to go real indepth unlike say during the week day mornings.

Reply:Hey Hard at Work,

You should just mulch the trees - so you don't injure the trunks by mowing, and so you protect the root growth (by not digging and walking on the roots - compressing).

You need to think how you want it to look. Take a picture and imagine.... This is the planning phase. Get a lot map, giving the dimensions of your yard, and placement of the house and all patios, trees, etc. Just draw circles and put lables. As you said - keep it simple.

In the end, the difference in what you want, and what you have is the work you have to do. Make your yard look like your drawings, in otherwords.

Look up all your plants on the internet - be sure they are good for your growing hardiness zone. Find out what kind of grass you have and treat it according to the Clemson Master Gardeners presentation (web site below). That gives mowing heights, ferterlizing needs, etc.

Austin TX does matter! Your hardiness Zone is 8b. You occasionally get a freeze.

Congrats on the new home - have fun doing the yard, smile a lot when you see things grow, don't worry when they fail (it is going to happen). Happy Gardening!!

Have a professional put in your lawn the first time. BE SURE to ask them how to take care of it. In Texas, watering is very important (we live in West Texas).

You are gonna love gardening, don't try to do it all in one year. Get to know where the sun shines the most, and where the shaded areas are. Because you will need flowers for the sun areas, and flowers for the shaded areas.

Since you are a beginner, this year start your garden with plants that you get from a garden center or nursery. They are called bedding plants and come in a six pack. Look for a little tag sticking in the six pact showing directions on how to grow the plants. If the tag is not there, ask for one or buy something else. Directions are VERY important.

Seeds are not always easy to grow. And wildflowers are the hardest so don't be disappointed if they don't show up.

Two good things to do for yourself is to call your local County Extension Service and ask for all the information that they have about gardening in your area. They usually have a packet/kit of things for the home gardener.

And number two would be to pick up a couple of beginner books. You really do need to know about soil, compost, mulch and etc.

To keep from over watering or not watering enough, buy a water analyzer from a nursery or garden center. Be sure to read the directions. This will be one of your best tools.

Send for some free gardening catalogs and get use to the different types of plants, colors, and when to plant. They are filled with good informtion and pictures. And they will keep you company during the long winter months. Here is a list of just a very few. There are hundreds more:

Potting soil that comes in bags,

Slow release fertilizer for flowers (not for green plants), OR liquid fertilizer that will need to be used more often-read directions,

Bedding plants or full grown plants.

Reply:I would start with just some sedum plants at the base of the trees, they do well in those location over time. For the rest of it I would just go to the nursery and see what they are selling for your area - look for a few shrubs (pay attention to the ultimate height if you do not want to have to trim them all the time!) and try to buy some nice perennials. Then put down some marigold and zinnia seeds in the sunny edges of the beds and those will come up really nicely for you at almost no cost (they also re-seed themselves). AND I would be sure to let your neighbors who go out and work in their yards know how much you like their gardens and what they would suggest for your garden - because most gardeners will give you a few of their "volunteer" plants and things they need to divide so they do not need to throw the extra plants in the compost heap! Just be friendly and inquisitive - if you like something and they have extra to spare, they are sure to think of you and perennials are truly "the gift that keeps on giving" over time, since they come back each year!
Reply:Oh I have the best idea!!! get a place in your yard that sort of has shade. Get the grass out of the area you want. Get rocks, and shape that area you want for your garden. Plant all the flowers you want, (smart idea get flowers that grow back each year) and if you want it to look pretty get more rocks and form a path to a bench looks beautiful!! and I would suggest not to put mulch down it doesn't look that homey!! : )
Reply:Parrnell plants will come back every year.

annuals you have to plant every year.

You will need plants that due well in hot weather.

If it is full sun around your house you will need plants that due well in full sun.

I have planted flowers around trees before, the problem comes when you mow.

You have to hand weed around the flowers and trees.

What is the proper thing to do in this case?

If I just had a baby last week and I receive a delivery of flowers from a family member to congratulate me and my husband on our new baby. Do I call and thank her or do I NOT call to thank her. What is the proper thing to do??

What is the proper thing to do in this case?
send a thank you card. people want to be acknowledged
Reply:I would sent a thank you letter in the mail.
Reply:thnk them definatly other wise they might not send you any other things
Reply:I say call. I was told that is the proper way to do it when you get flowers. You only send cards if it is bunch of people sending stuff for the same thing. In this case, it is personal and I think the person would enjoy a call to hear your voice and the joy in it. They will want to ask questions I think too...about the bady and how you are feeling.
Reply:It would probably be best to call.
Reply:Feed the baby
Reply:Send a thank you note in the mail.
Reply:return address? I say send a thank you letter....it's courteous.
Reply:Call and thank her for the lovely flowers. In my opinion, a letter is too formal.
Reply:Send a thank you note.
Reply:u should call them. if they are bein nice, u should be nice to them back. besides, theyre family and they love u.
Reply:yeah, I think that you should but tell her that She didn't have to do this but be very nice to the family member it's just good common sense
Reply:Send a thank you note. Keep a box of generic thank yous around so you don't have to run out everytime you need one.
Reply:Wow! Overthinking much?

Call or don't call, whatever you prefer, just make sure they get thanked. I'm leaning towards calling since they will want to know the gift arrived.
Reply:Definitely call and thank her at least! You should get a package of thank you cards because you are going to get all kinds of gifts. The proper thing to do is thank the person for the gift (and name it) saying that you love it (even if you don't). If its money or a gift card tell them what you are going to do with it. Congratulations!
Reply:Definitely acknowledge the gift. I would call, you could also write a thank you note.

Death of an infant?

A coworker had his first baby girl August 5th. She was 2 1/2 months premature, but was doing great! She was breathing on her own, but was going to stay in the nicu until a couple weeks before her actual due date. On August 13 she passed away. Apparently she had a hole in her intestines and her vitals were too low to operate and she died early Monday morning. I feel so bad for my coworker and his girlfriend. This was his first baby and her 3rd. As a company we sent flowers and we're collecting money and putting it in a card for them. I feel like I should do more for them. I know there isn't anything I can say or do, but I feel like I should get them something and I can't for the life of me think of anything... They don't have any family or friends here, except for coworkers. I was thinking about a memory box or something. The funeral is today. Does anyone have any ideas???

Death of an infant?
I think what you are doing is enough for now. Just be there for them but don't be too there. I lost my son and I know everyone is different but I needed time with my husband and to be alone and it seemed like I had no time for us. Also, you don't want to give them anything too sentimental just yet. They will appreciate memories and things more after they have had time to heal and get over the initial shock. Like I said, maybe it's just me. The hospital sent me home with pictures, and the footprints, handprints, etc. I looked at them a lot and just cried. It was so hard. Maybe make a donation to a charity in the babies name. That's what my co-workers did. It meant a lot.
Reply:I think you did a great thing. That is one of the hardest things to go through! Your a great friend! Report It

Reply:A memory box is a good idea. Other than that show your support by coming to the funeral and being there if they need something.
Reply:People take the loss of a child (or any loved one) differently. Some just want to be left alone, while others want people around during this tragic time.

It is hard to say how your coworker feels, thus making it hard for you to figure out what you can do for them.

Right now, I think that you should let them know that you are going to be there for them.
Reply:JUST TURN UP AT THE FUNERAL, BE THERE FOR THEM,THAT,S ALL IT TAKES
Reply:a memory box, so that they could put the things they have from the baby in their to save.

I think any box from a craft store would do.
Reply:a memory box sounds nice. a friend of mine has her daughter the day before my son was born in the same hospital only she was 23 1/2 weeks pregnant and i was 36. i felt a conection with this baby everytime i went to go visit her in the nicu. she passed away at 2 weeks and one day old and i was there with my friend and the baby as she passed. it made me very depressed since this was both of our first child and my hormones were going crazy and i didn't think it was fair i just cried. we egot somem white balloons together and at her funeral we let them all go in the air with one pink and one yellow to represent mommy and daddy. it was beautiful. i wouuld right her name on them all
Reply:Be their friend.Buy a frame for her photo that they can have up in their home.
Reply:maybe just flowers and a shoulder for them both to cry on if they need it just send them both a personal note from you letting them know if they need anything you will be there for them
Reply:I'd just consider a really touching card with your personal (handwritten) sentiments added to it...let them know you are there for them...and consider cooking a meal for them. There isn't much else you can do but make them aware that you're there for them.
Reply:Wow - that's tough. My heart goes out to them. I think you are being a great friend. The memory box sounds like a wonderful idea. I would include a card offering your love and support. Words can make a difference! Beyond that, the only things I can think of are: making a tribute in the baby's name to a charity such as the March of Dimes, or to the hospital she was treated at; making dinner for them; or a framed verse or poem.

What are some pretty nature-related names?

For example: types of flowers, plants, gemstones, etc.

I know this is the baby names section, but I need a name for my cat. Thanks.

What are some pretty nature-related names?
Well if you want to use the orange spots as distinguishing characteristics I'd go with Amber, Topaz, Maple, Apricot, or something similar that reminds you of that orangy color. If you want to focus on the black spots, there's Licorice (which is actually a plant not just a candy), Onyx, or Obsidian. But if you'd like to combine both colors, there is a gemstone that's called Agate which comes in a black/orange color combo. I've always thought it'd be cute to name a cat Lapis Lazuli and have people at the vet's office give you a funny look when they say the kitty's name. Hope it helps :)

Has anyone wanted to change their babies name after they were born?

My beautiful babys name is Bethany Darlene.... I really like Bethany rose all of a sudden..... Is this wrong of me to think like this?

Darlene is after my grandma,

rose would be like Beths sister Lilly another flower.

has anyone ever changed their babies name after birth?

Has anyone wanted to change their babies name after they were born?
yeah i like rose too, change it she won't know
Reply:Yes, Ive thought about changing my 2nd daughters name just about every day. We just settle for a nickname instead, since we wouldnt know what to change it to... nothing seems to fit. At least her middle name suits her - as a middle name.

why not 3 names?
Reply:i changed my daughters name from claire lynn to chloe lynn but do it soon or she get confused
Reply:Why not Bethany Rose Darlene? It seems safer to change her middle name than her first, so why not? Are you sure you want to get rid of "Darlene"?
Reply:hey its your baby name it with no regrets!

i guess if you're Christian you still have time (before the christening that is)..

i say still a baby - still time :)
Reply:I did not change my babys name but about two weeks after she was born the name that I was considering first became stuck in my head. I didn't change her name because everything had been filed in the state. She is now seven years old and to this day I regret not changing it. I suggest if you feel very strongly about it to do whats in your heart. After all she will live with this name for the rest of her life.
Reply:If you're going to change it do so while your baby is still a baby. Also be up front with them when they grow up and make sure they understand that they had a different name on their birth certificate. My mom wanted to change my name when I was young and didn't, she constantly tells me I should change my name, I'll be 18 soon and I'm so sick of hearing it. If she didn't like my name back then she should have changed it.
Reply:if your gonna change it change it soon....i wanted to change my daughters from isabelle mia to mia isabella but i just left it alone. i liked both anyway.
Reply:I like that one posters idea about Bethany Rose Darlene, but it sounds nicer switched-Bethany Darlene Rose.
Reply:No, because I had 9 months to think about the name!

Is this poem any good?

Sometimes I think the sun hates flowers

and the stars startle the moon

like a baby-faced apocalypse

And, when in your world

there is light

it doesn't come from candles

but from a dripping stairwell

leading...

...upstairs to the ground

Is this poem any good?
everything was okay til i got to the dripping stairwell leading upstairs to the ground You lost me their
Reply:No, you are trying to be too cute. KISS. Keep it simple. Rework your ideas but try not to be too heady. The best poems allow the user to read in their own thoughts and ideas.
Reply:i luv it.
Reply:its a cool idea. i see where your going with it, but it doesnt flow. i like the pharases "baby-faced apocalypse" and "leading upstairs to the ground". try to keep the idae but change up the wording so its more rythmic (like "leading upstairs to the ground"). keep writing!! poetry is so magical
Reply:i think it's a very good start, but it is very lost and disoriented keep trying !
Reply:no
Reply:Not really. A poem is supposed to express your very own opinion and thoughts. In this poem, it sounds lost. Sorry, but that is my honest opinion.
Reply:The sun does not hate flowers!! =] I see detail but its coming out of a thesaurus. Use emotion and don't be embarrassed to show it.

Do u think he likes me even tho he doesnt call me much anymore?

we used to talk everyday and we work together. but now something is happening. he still acts the same like he usually does but doesnt call as much anymore

his usual behavior when hes around me: calls me beautiful/pretty, gives me hugs, helps me with things, says he loves me (friendship thing?), says hes getting flowers for my b-day next week, calls me baby like all the time

he has 2 jobs (1 in morning, 1 at night) but hestill has 4 hrs btw both jobs, im thinking his bill went over the minutes allowed or something, and plus he lives on his own so he has mucho bills to pay, ohh lol and plus hes mexican and kinda speaks more spanish than english so theres another problem, what do u think is going on??

Do u think he likes me even tho he doesnt call me much anymore?
Either he has other stuff to worry about but still likes you.

OR hes losing interest.
Reply:I think he likes you, but keeping up with you and 2 jobs is probaly stressful. Give him sometime. Wait for his day off, give him a call and suggest going out together. Maybe this will rekindle things between you and him and he'll start calling again (and he wont care about going out over his mintues!)
Reply:I think he's doing his best and you're acting silly. He only has 4 hours off between jobs, and you're thinking something's wrong? Nah. He's busy!
Reply:He's messing with another chick and don't want things to be weird between the two of you because you work together so he's "trying" to act like normal. Just don't worry about if he calls or not you do you make him chase play hard to get.

Questions about my wedding?

Ok, first off... Tell if this sounds ok or stupid.... I have two little girls from a prevoius marriage aged 3 and 4, they are going going to be our flower girls. We just had a baby boy, he will be 6 months old at the time of our wedding, and we wanted all of our children in our wedding so we are going to make our son or ring bearer. Since he will not be able to walk my step dad is going to carry him in the wedding. I wanted my step dad because he has been in my life since I was a child and he has been more of a dad to me than my real dad at times, so he had to be in my wedding and since he dosn't feel right walking me down, (so my real dad will) I thought him carrying our son would work that way he is still part of my wedding.

Does that sound stupid???

Second, does anyone has any unique ideas for our wedding and reseption? Since we just had our son that was a 34 week premmie and had to be in the hospital for 12 days and has several medical problems now, we do not have money.

Questions about my wedding?
That does not sound stupid at all. It is awesome that you are having both of your father's honored in the wedding and that you are including all of your children. And plus, this is YOUR wedding and you can do whatever you want! If you are getting married in the summer, I would suggest a wedding outside at a local park or recreation area, maybe by the water. Some places you don't even have to pay for, they are just public property. Others you may have to pay a small fee. And you can have the wedding and the reception at that same park. Get some good music and burn it onto CD's instead of hiring a DJ...or get a local youngster to do this for you. Make it all really casual, which I think people prefer anyway. It could be the best time of your life!
Reply:I think your step-dad carrying ur son down the isle is a cute idea. That is a great way to include both of them in your wedding.

You can keep the reception simple by having it at someone's house and having finger food instead of a full meal.
Reply:It doesn't sound stupid at all, that is really sweet.
Reply:First off I dont think if would be bad if you didnt get them gifts. You asked them to be in your wedding because they are important to you, they will understand if they are true to you. Secondly, I think that is amazing that you and your stepfather have such a great bond (I am very close with my stepfather but Im also very close to my real father) My fiance and I are getting married next year we have a boy and a girl. Our boy will be two and our girl will be one. I am having my sister (who will be 8) as my flower girl and my son as the ring bearer, so they will walk down the isle together. My daughter however is still going to be too young to walk down the isle so Im having my mother and stepfather walk with her down the isle to their seats. Its great to have your children in it even if they are too young, you will look back and they will look back and be able to say "I was there when my parents got married"
Reply:I love your idea with having your step dad and son be the ring bearer.. but I've got nothing for you for the reception.

Congrats
Reply:That is the cutest idea ever never second guess yourself and besides that its your wedding :) you can do what you want. Dont let people make decisions for you that will make everything go wrong and by the way your mother seems very nice. There are many ways to get by some things without spending loads of money you can decorate your head table with flowers and have simple center pieces a water bowl with floating candles, a bag of rose pedals which are like 10 dollars and you can by some glitter to sprinkle on top if you want to put some crushed glass in them they are also cheap they have them in all different colors that will save you loads and its beautiful your wedding day will be special either way having the people you love there will make it a great

congrats it will all work out in the end :) i hope your son feels better
Reply:I think your stepdad carring your son is sweet.

Some ideas... Once I saw a ring bearer that was about your son's age being pulled down the aisle in a classic red wagon all decorated with ribbon. it was adorable.

To save money on wedding decorations, get married at a time when the church will already be decorated. Easter, Christmas... Also, if you talk to the church, you might be able to find a day there is another bride who would be willing to either leave her decorations behind or split the cost with you.

skip the wedding planner (unless the church provides it free) and go to a local rental place. You can get a pretty arch for the chapel and some basic centerpieces cheap. Or make your own centerpieces - at glass stores you can get mirror scraps cut to 8" square (or whatever size), then at a craft store buy cheap candle cups (or buy sets of juice glasses at a discount store) and put a basic white votive candle in, then surround with either ribbon or confetti or inexpensive flower heads like dasies or carnations in your color.

for reception location, there are halls that usually are somewhat decorated already. I went to a wedding at one where they already had twinkle lights up around the room. The bride just got white and silver helium baloons (the latex kind, not fancy) and tied white and silver ribbon to them and put them in bunches around the walls. It was a magical effect!

for food, buffet style or just orderves (I KNOW i spelled that wrong but I tried about five times before I gave up!)

If you want, make cds of the music you want played and just ahve someone in charge of switching them out. Even if you download every song off itunes or something, you'll only be spending a hundred bucks or so as opposed to how much for a DJ?

There are a lot of funny places you cansave money too. There are lots of things you can buy off ebay. My friend saved money on her wedding shoes by having her mom decorate a pair of (no-name versions of) Keds with lace and pearly beads.

congratulations!
Reply:It sounds special :)

Try www.FavorableAffairs.com
Reply:the family church. most churches have a large room they use for get-togethers and if you are a member they are generally free. so have your reception there - that would save you rental fees for a hall. they usually have all the chairs and tables as well as some will even have the tablecloths.

as for your wedding, why not have it in the morning and then have a tea afterwards? you could have finger sandwiches, veggie tray, tarts, cookies, bars with tea and coffee. that type of thing. and they can easily be made up at home so your costs would be significantly lower than having a reception later in the day when folks will expect a meal.

instead of a big fancy wedding cake you could go to costco and order one or two large slab cakes decorated for under $40.00, and they do pretty darn good decorating there! they also have several choices of cake. we use their cakes for receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, retirement parties, etc.

you could use pretty paper plates, with white paper napkins and tablecloths if the church doesn't have the linens and utensils available.

invitations - you could buy preprinted ones and fill in the pertinent information on them yourself and save a small fortune in printing costs. many office supply stores carry a good selection of them.

ask a friend to take photos for you or give several of your friends a disposable camera to take candid shots with - you'd be surprised at how many truly great photos you will end up with!

don't bother renting tuxes, and gowns, simply buy yourself a pretty little dress thats really dainty and feminine, put your m.o.h. in a pretty dress, get the men into dress pants, shirts and ties, or if possible a suit, your little ones in cute little off the rack dresses and you are ready to go!

you don't need big bouquets, a single long stemmed rose or calla lily would be beautiful on its own.

as for your baby being carried down the aisle, sounds cute! and a lovely way to bring your step-dad into the ceremony.

as for your m.o.h. and best man - they know you so well, they are aware of your current limitations so give them each a lovely thank you card with an invitation to your home for dinner - believe me they will totally understand.

don't waste a single penny on 'favors' - they are a waste of money and few people really ever want them. just make sure you send your all your guest thank you cards as soon as possible after the wedding.

honeymoon - why not get someone to take the kiddies overnight, you and your hubby stay home, order in dinner, have a bottle of wine cooling in the fridge and enjoy the quiet! you don't have to have an exotic location for a honeymoon, you just have to have the man you love at your side.

just remember, all you really need for a wedding is the bride, the groom, a minister, a couple of rings and a licence. everything else is just icing on the cake!

good luck sweetie, and have a joyous wedding and life!
Reply:That's my wedding date too! =) Did you realize it is 06-07-08? I didn't plan it that way on purpose (I didn't even want to be a June bride), but that's how it happened. Easy date to remember!

I think having your step-dad carry your son down the isle will be a very cute idea. That's the sort of thing that will make the guests go "awwww!" Especially if they are wearing matching big and little tuxes or something.

I'm not good with unique ideas, but I am good at keeping things cheap, so if you have any specific questions about how to save, email me!

Congrats!
Reply:That sounds really sweet. My sis had the same drama with our two dads, and soon I will too, so I feel your pain. Ok, so please don't be offended, because I am judging by your avatar, but are you Hispanic? My fiance is and he talked to me about padrinos? He says they are like sponsors who basically donate $50 each to cover their own cost at the reception. He said I can ask my people to be sponsors and not call them padrinos, but white people DO NOT ask other people for money... I know it's all really cultural, so... =]

Backyard bbq's are affordable :)
Reply:i think that is about the sweetest thing that i have ever heard! i think your step dad carrying your son will be wonderful!
Reply:I don't think it sounds stupid. It is nice that you want him to be in the wedding, and I bet he appreciates it. We did the lighting of the candle at our wedding, and when it came time for my parents to light I had my stepfather go up with them. As for ideas I don't have any. Does any of your family have a big enough place that they could hold it there?
Reply:I think your stepfather walking him down the aisle sounds perfect and absolutely adorable! As far as the wedding and reception, do you know anyone where you can have it at their house? You could rent a reception hall and have both there, like at the VA. Some places will already be decorated for the holidays so the decor wouldn't be too expensive to just add a few things. Just some ideas.
Reply:Thats a really lovely idea to involve everyone in the service, especially the 'dad' dilema. contact that show, for better or for worse.
Reply:Just wanted to say I just heard of a wedding where they had their older child pull their little baby down the aisle ina wagon. I heard it was too cute, just wanted to tell you in case in might work here. good luck!
