RATE OUT OF TEN please?

She was on her way to becoming a college graduate

Wouldn't even stop to talk to the average kid

The type of latina I'd sit and contemplate marriage with

**** the horse and carriage ****, her love was never for hire

Disciplined, intellectual beauty's what I desire

Flyer than Salma Hayek or Jennifer Lopez

Everyone told me, kickin' it to her was hopeless

At first I just thought, she didn't mess with broke kids

The thug ****** always talking about, how they smoke kids

But the rich-sniff-coke kids got no play

"I'm not even interested" is what her body language would say

Everyone around the way, gave up trying to get in it

It didn't matter how good your game was, she wasn't with it

On the block, bitches was jealous, but wouldn't admit it

Talk ****, and deny to everyone that they did it

'Cause they regretted the long list of ****** that they let hit it

And no one ever gave them **** except McDonald's and did-dick

Smoking weed with thoughts of envy, whenever they lit it

She smoked intelligently and they bit it, always trying to copy

But when they tried to use her vocab, they sounded sloppy

She had a style, all her own, respectful and pure

I was sick in the head for her, and there wasn't a cure

[Verse 2]

Her eyes are brown and beautiful, yet empty and sad

I used to talk to her occasionally, and she was glad

That I wasn't just another ***** trying to get in it

So every now and then we'd stop and talk for a minute

I didn't have a gimmick so the minutes turned to hours

On her birthday, I gave her a poem with flowers

Then I took her out to dinner after her cousin's baby shower

We talked about, power to the people and such

We spent more time together but it was never enough

I never tried to sneak a touch, or even cop a feel

I was too interested, in keeping it real

Perfectly honest and complete, she would always call me "carino",

And never Technique, bought me a new book to read every 2 or 3 weeks

Forever changing the expression of my thoughts when I speak

It was because of her, I even deaded all of my freaks

She convinced me, to stop hangin' out on the streets

To stop robbin' and stealin', from people like you

Instead I took her out to the Apollo and the Bronx Zoo

We sailed in Barrio and the Metropolitan too

Got to the point when I was either with her or my crew

So I decided one day, to tell her my feelings was true

I couldn't live without her so I told her, facing my fears

But honey's only response, was a face full of tears

She could only sob hysterically, holding me tight

I tried to speak, but she wouldn't stop until I left sight

I felt like a moth who got himself too close to the light

Except I didn't burn, I turned cold after that night

[Hook]

[Verse 3]

I went on with my life, college and my career

Ended up locked up like an animal for a year

Where the C.O.'s talk to you like they were the overseer

Then I got sent to the hole, when my exit was near

At night in my cell, I'd close my eyes and I'd see her

Hold her close in my dreams, but when I woke she disappeared

Just an empty cell until the state gave me parole in the summer

came back, in tact and on track

But the fact of the matter, is I still felt cold

Even after my mother, hugged me, cryin' at home

My real ****** would catch me thinkin', out of my zone

******' lots of different women, but I still felt alone

Relatively well-known around the New York underground

But I kept thinking of her and how we used to be down

The sound of her voice, and the beautiful smell of her hair

Though gone physically, somehow it was still there

I had to do something, because the **** was too much to bear

So I went and visited the building where she used to live

The world looks a lot different after you do a bid

The way your life done changed

While primitive minds (are) still stuck in the same game

Like her cousin who was on the corner slangin' cocaine

Stepped in the lobby and tapped the button next to her last name

Her mom buzzed me up and hugged me up, like a mother oughta

But her facial expression changed, when I asked about her daughter

[Hook]

[Verse 4]

She told me that there was a note for me, that was left behind

She had left it there waiting, for such a long time

I was inclined to ask about it but she brought it up first

I saw a tear swelling up in her eye, and then she cursed

She told me where the letter was and I started thinking the worst

Reversed my position, stepped over and opened the door

And sure enough there was an envelope with my name on the floor

"Nobody loves you more than me carino" is what the letter said

"By the time you get to read this, I'll probably be dead

But when you left in '97 a part of me went to Heaven

I thank God at least I got to know what love really was

But it hurt me, to see what true love really does

'Cause even though we never made love, you were all that there was

It was because I loved you so much that I had to make you leave

You made me doubt the way I thought, you made me want to believe

And then I slipped up, and I let you get close to me

It was hard to not be openly when people spoke to me

This was not the way I thought my life was supposed to be

Baby don't you see, I had a blood transfusion that left me with HIV

Hoped the end exists for me since late in 1993

I died a virgin, I wish I could've given myself to you

I cried in the hospital because there was no one else but you

Promise that you'll meet me in paradise inevitably

No matter what, I'll keep your love forever with me"

What happened for the rest of the day is still a blur

But I remember wishing that I was dead, instead of her

She was buried on August 3rd

The story ends without a sequel

And now you know why Technique, don't ******* fall in love with people

Hold the person that you love closely if they're next to you

The one you love, not the person that'll simply have sex with you

Appreciate them to the fullest extent, and then beyond

'Cause you never really know what you got, until it's gone

How honest should I be with my child about sex/babies?

My eldest daughter is 5 and when she asked about how she was born, I was honest and told her babies are born through a ladies "flower" as she calls it. She was fascinated and that satisfied her curiosity. I don't want to have to tell her about the sex part so soon, though I won't lie to her or make her feel bad for asking about it. Is it ok to tell her babies are made when mummies and daddies have special grown up kisses and cuddles? She already knows that babies take two people to make, just not how.

How honest should I be with my child about sex/babies?
I think you've provided enough information. If she asks for more, then provide her with more. She'll ask as she becomes more curious. Sex should not be a secret, and it should not be shrouded with bizarre myths. I think you might want to use appropriate names for genitals also, there's nothing wrong with it. I think you're doing a great job. Special cuddles and kisses are ambiguous enough to give her some information without overwhelming her with the mechanics of sex. Trst your instincts. You're a competent mom, and you know what your daughter is ready to hear. You're doing just fine.
Reply:You are quite right to answer honestly and directly as you did . It is very important not to shirk the question . I was advised , by an elderly uncle , when my daughter and her cousin eleven years old and rather forward with the boys , " Always keep the dialogue open ". I have been able to help my children and many others , whose parents couldn't face up to the questions . The first time was a shock , but I gave direct answers , after a little my daughter said "Oh " and went off to play again .

Unless children specifically ask , I do not think they should be told too much befor puberty or their early teens .
Reply:Only answer her questions as she asks but be honest when you do. If she learns early on that she can trust you for the truth about stuff like this, she will be more likely to turn to you as she grows older. You sure don't want her to get her information from her friends. Just look at all the questions that teenagers ask on this forum.
Reply:it depends how you want her to grow up... there are some people who say that a child who is deprived of this knowledge grows up 'sexually awkward' or 'insecure' because when they grow up they are unsure of what to do when its thier time............ im not really sure how to explain it... but it really does depend how you want your child to be when they grow up.
Reply:my daughter asked at 3... she asked only cause i was pregnant and wanted to know how her brother would come out..lol i told her out my monkey ( thats what we called it)..lol when she was a few years older she asked how babies got there... we told her that when 2 people love each other like her mom and dad they kiss and stuff and thats how babies are made through love... when she was about 11 we talked more about the female body and things that change and happen. when she got her monthly we talked about sex and love making. i didnt go into details on how u do it...lol i told her what everything was used for and how a child could be made if they werent having safe sex... i have always been close to my daughter. i have always been honest and open. i feel if she asked then shes ready to know... we are great friends but she knows im the mom 1st then her friend... and im proud to say she will be 17yrs old in a couple of months and still a virgin. she says she wants to make love not just have sex, she dont want to risk having a child with someone she wont love forever. and she tells me often this choice was made cause of how open and honest i was with her. u answer the questions how u feel your child will understand. so many dont ask and end up with babies when they are still babies. good luck u have many years of questions to answer
Reply:I think that's fine for a 5 year old. She should also be aware that certain parts of her body are private and should not be touched by anyone else unless her parents are present, but I really don't think that for a five year old you need to join up the dots and explain the details of sex.
Reply:well my answer would be to just let her find out naturally (from tv and other kids) thats how my kids found out and now they are fine

note: you dont want to keep her curious because she might want to experiment. so only tell her what she needs to know

best of luck :)

~godfreyandthandi
Reply:i think u musn't tell her rigth now anything ,cause she is still small and isn't ready to be responsible for such big conversation as she may play with such words u have and embaresse u wherever u go with a loud voice as she still doesn't understand .u can tell her when she is at least 10yrs but also with sme cautions when we were on her age our mum used to tell us such stuff when we reach at least 14-15!!

but we know that those are the third generation more technologed. i hope that works with u.
Reply:I would hold off on more details until she is like 10.
Reply:Be Very honest especially in Physical and sexual development. Here is a true story told to us by our psychology teacher... A young girl had her first menstruation but she did not had any proper education about those. So instead of asking her parents she asked their driver. The driver tricked her by raping her and said that the process stops the bleeding. The young girl had no idea that she has already been violated, she thought that what the driver did too him was normal, and no idea that the process may cause her to become pregnant. Soon it was found out but it is already too late.
Reply:They learn it at school anyway and not in a very nice way through some of the other kids. My son knows about sex since last year and he's 7..he heard it through some classmates. Just do what you feel is right...I did.
Reply:I have a niece who is 5 and she knows some basic stuff about babies and where they come from. But when I was pregnant she didn't know how they got out, she though every woman had a cesarean, Her mum told her that normally you push a baby out of your mini (her words), anyway my niece got a bit quiet about it, but we let it go. The next time I saw her she asked if it would hurt pushing a baby out, and I told her the truth that yes it would hurt but the Doctor could give my special medicine and that the pain gets me closer to holding my baby. She understood the basic concept and has informed me that she is going to have 4 kids, lol.

5 year olds get a lot more than we think, but you just have to put it in terms that don't scare or humiliate and if they stop asking questions about what ever you discuss let it go right then and there. They will ask again when they have processed what you told them to begin with.

Trust your judgment, she is your daughter, you know her best. 5year olds are very smart and clever.
Reply:above all do not lie to you child. answer the question honestly and just enought to satisfy her curiosity. as she grows older begin to get more involved. kids need to no by the age of 10 or so based on that child ability to understand. my daughter was about 9 when she wanted to know.
Reply:Leave it as a bit of a mystery for a while - I think by age ten there should be some discussion to make her aware of what to AVOID so as not to get the baby in the flower.

Isnt it sad that we have to take the innocence away?

Better that though than someone takes total advantage because she hasnt been told what happens.
Reply:i told mine about sex when she was 5 and again at 11

Mature married ladies only please?

My wife of ten years used to be pretty wild in bed, but after she had our first child (there were some complications she thought she might loose the baby, but didn't )she just went off sex, we still do it a couple of times a week, but it's become sort of routine. I kmow things can slow down a bit after being married a while but this happened suddenly and her drive hasn't come back at all. I have tried everything, I think I'm quite thoughtfull, I pull my weight with chores around the house, bring her flowers cook her romantic meals, take her out (when we can get baby sitters) give her breaks from the kids regularly, run her hot baths with essential oils and candles....nothing works. I tried talking to her about it a few years ago but she thought I was critisizing her and became defensive so I dropped it. One other time she told me that she really loves me but prefers to cuddle up than have sex. everything else in our marriage is great but how can I get back the PASSION in our sex life.

Mature married ladies only please?
You've certainly tried. Maybe you should consult with her Dr. She may be suffering from depression or it could be a libido thing.
Reply:when you do please email and tell me how u did it my husband we have been married8 mo but together 4 years never wants to touch me but over does it with money and cuddys and kisses me so if u figure it out let me know
Reply:Sounds like she could be depressed. Whatever happened to her, its not normal. She really should go if for a check-up with the doctor and have herself checked out.
Reply:I am the same as your wife...my hubby tries (not as hard as you have but in his own way, I am sure).

When I had my son, I lost my identity because I could no longer think of myself but him. I am a stay at home mom and there is no clocking out or calling in sick for that...it is 24/7 and stressing. You might let her read this and maybe she will email me (please do mommy, I would love to have someone to talk to about this...chrissy757@yahoo.com - use subject "mom dealing with loss of life as she knew it").

Mommy, if you read this...I understand your need for a cuddle without having to have sex. I would love to just cuddle my husband without any strings attached but I can't anymore because it always leads to an argument about sex or a schedule for sex. For me, sex has become another duty I need to fulfill and has lost it's enjoyment for that reason.

Daddy, sorry to plague your question with my feelings but I do hope your wife will see you are wanting to grow closer together by posting this question and that this is not about a need you want to fulfill.

Ask her to consider emailing me.
Reply:thats all u care about sex? think about ur wife and about what she wants too not just what u want some times u got to make some sacrifises in ur life hopefully this should be ur hardest one
Reply:Fred: there may be hormonal problems. There may be exhaustion after handling small children all day. There may be a wish to have something that does not have a demand at the end. She has told you that she wants to cuddle, so forget the baths, dinners, flowers, etc. for a while - these are now a signal that you want sex. Get a chick flick, a couple of candles and a comfy couch and CUDDLE. I am sure that after a while, when she can be comfortable with the thought that intimacy does not always lead to sex, she will be the passionate person she used to be. And be sure to tell her that you love her many times every day.
Reply:she just wants you to be around just because you don't have sex doesn't mean the passion isn't there anymore just keep doing what you are doing and you Will be doing good let her come to you as well just show her you will always be there for her

Everyone says to "stop and smell the roses", but what if you have allergies?

What scents do you enjoy if flowers aren't a particular favorite?

An Ice Cream Shop?

A baby clean fresh from a bath?

Rain in the air?

Candle Shops?

Maybe your favorite meal?

What tickles your senses?

Everyone says to "stop and smell the roses", but what if you have allergies?
I love the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking - the smell of vanilla and chocolate in the air is totally intoxicating!

I love the smell of baby powder!! So soft and warm, makes me think of snuggling in a blanket, and of course rocking small babies!! Ah, bliss!!

How about the smell on Thanksgiving morning with all the turkeys roasting in the neighborhood? Doesn't it just smell like home and friends and family? It always warms my heart!!

I love the smell of apples cooking with cinnamon!! Is there anything better?

I love the smell of candles - blueberry crumble, mulled apple cider, vanilla, christmas spices!!

I love the smell of some men's colognes. I told one friend that his should be against the law - it just smelled too good to be legal!!

Excuse me, I think I smell something wonderful right now! I really have to go find out what it is. Ahhh!!
Reply:if you're allergic, i guess you could 'take a picture' instead!

i do love the scent of fresh cut flowers... but sometimes you just can't get 'em. here are some substitutes:

pine trees in the woods on a summer day.

the smell of dark chocolate just before you bite it.

the neighborhood is grilling out on a saturday night.

the "furniture shop smell" (new, not used.)

the scent of wild raspberries on your hands after picking them all day.

the lake, or the ocean.

fresh sweet corn!

and yes, candle shops and aromatherapy.
Reply:You don't have to smell the roses just what ever will wake u up from dreaming.
Reply:If you can't stop and smell the roses, then stop and smell the chocolate!!(mmmmm..good stuff)

If you are allergic to chocolate, then stop and smell the coffee. (mmmmmm)

If you are allergic to roses, chocolate, and coffee, then stop and smell yourself....cause you are a loser, dude, and you reek : )
Reply:It means be thankful for what you already have now and enjoy happy thoughts and things around you.
Reply:AXE!

ok seriously - people need to stop wearing that godforsaken body spray.
Reply:I've always preferred "wake up and smell the coffee" to "stop and smell the roses". The two things that keep people from achieving their potential are laziness and fear. But which is greater? And if we have only one life why shouldn't we experience every smell good or bad to the extent that we are capable to experience it.

Good luck -G

Any ideas for a "profitable" and fair FUNDRAISER for a small non-profit organization??

I'm always trying to come up with GREAT ideas for a fundraiser to help our small work committee. So far, a group garage sale has been the best! We've done cook sales in our breakroom, however they are not profitable at all! Of course a football raffle is common and can help..........BUT, we are at a standstill because we can't come up with anything else to keep us going. We help people in need, the Ronald McDonald house, charitable needs, family loss/flowers, and our own in-station things like our Christmas party, baby showers, special other things, birthdays, Any ideas from anyone?

Any ideas for a "profitable" and fair FUNDRAISER for a small non-profit organization??
are there any grants you might be eligible for ?

maybe ask your local mayor for ideas ?

Ask McDonald's Corporation in Oakbrook , IL , if they have any suggestions since you are helping support the Charity house.

As an accountant if something can be set up for gift matching / if a foundation or something was estabished. our company allows us to contribute to a charity of our choice and they will match our contribution. I do not know the details but they get a tax advantage and so do we for doing so. Not sure how to arrange. Is one of your members an attorney or tax attorey that might be able to advise ? You could offer to list their name on brochures for advertising in exchange.

What about coupon booklets / ask local business to advertise / you sell the coupon books for low prices ?

ask to have raffles at all sporting events or other events ? ask a business to contribute something ... cell phone / dinner for 2 at a restaurant / dozen donuts / 4 movie tickets / spa time / manicure/pedicure / anything at any loal store and then sell raffle tickets for it.

would food sales be more profitable if grocery stores / sams club donated the food instead of purchasing it ? ask one store to donate bread items / another store to donate hot dogs / another store to donate chips. another store to donate condiments. list their names / thank them . pass the brochure with each item purchased.
Reply:We've found that "garage" sales are very good, but sometimes you get stuck with a lot of things you can't sell. If you are a REAL non profit (have your 501C paperwork) then you can talk to some area businesses about donations or other fund raising methods. For example, McDonalds will sell the coupon books that people sometimes give kids at Halloween for half price, then you sell them to employees for $1. We've received things like coupons for a free car wash or massage, movie tickets, bath sets, etc and then held an auction. If you do that, be sure you advertise to outside buyers as well for the best prices.
Reply:Let's see: carwashes are always a fun way to raise money. Or a game night at someone's house: just charge a couple bucks to get in and provide an easy dinner, like spaghetti and garlic bread.

Or you could do a movie marathon: charge a few bucks to get in and provide popcorn and a soda or something like that.

Also you could contact a fundraiser company like Sees and sell products from door to door or in front of a popular store. (One that I always liked to do was sell cookie dough, and it was always a BIG hit.)

I found a website with a ton of ideas for you though. It is the first site listed in the source box below. The site listed below it is a site where you can do sponsored fundraisers.

GOOD LUCK!!!!! =]
Reply:One of the best fundraisers I have ever heard of was in my old school. Back in the early 1980's., we lost funding for music and athletics, and we had to scramble to keep any programs. We made and sold apple pies. In our area of Michigan, apple orchards are pretty common, and there were lots of blemished or bruised apples that wouldn't sell for much of anything, so the orchards gave us the apples, the sugar beet factory donated sugar, the dairy farmers donated butter, the local grocery store donated the flour, and we used the school cafeteria to make the pies. I think the only thing we had to pay for were the pie tins. The students went out and picked the apples, and we pre-sold the pies for like $8 each. People had to come and pick them up the day we made them. We had every band student and most of our Moms helping to make crust, peel apples, fill pies, package and people who just worked at the door giving people pies for their little tickets they purchased from the kids. They still do this fundraiser today, and it now raises about $30,000. Some people inevitably don't pick up their pies, so the rest are frozen and sold to a local store or resold for a lower price that afternoon.

You could do similar things in your area based on what is available. One idea is to sell seedling trees, you can get them for next to nothing on Ebay, and have one or two days for people to pick them up. Or flower baskets in the spring, bought in large wholesale lots and resold. Or go door to door and to businesses offering to pick up their pop cans that day and then recycling them or getting the deposit. (That is how our girls high school softball team raises money, and I love it.!)

The best ideas have a few things in common. First, they have a high profit rate, with donated items (like your thrift sale) or a very fast turnaround, like a one or two day craft sale, book sale, etc. Also, doing something new that no one else does is good. One idea is to ask for donated items that can be sold on Ebay, and give reciepts since you are a non-profit. This can be a great tax deduction for the giver, and you have a large selling audience to bid on the items. You can sell anything on Ebay, from antique dishes to car parts to DVD's or whatever. Instead of always going to your local businesses asking for donations, try to go door to door, or put a general call out to local people. Offer to pick things up. You can probably get your local papers to give you free classified ads asking for donations. You just need somewhere to store stuff. What you cannot sell on Ebay, you could sell in your garage sales, even holding one a month on a regular basis, first Saturday or something.

Good luck! Thanks for doing good!
Reply:try raffleing a fourwheeler, we did that in the fire dept. i belonged to. usually cleared around seven thousand dollars in our small town....
Reply:Raffles work great in this type of situation and it's something you could do over and over. Choose great prizes that people really want and you'll sell plenty of tickets every time. iPods, digital cameras, spa treatments, full car detailing, and so on work really well. Be sure to price your raffle tickets accordingly; too low and you won't make as much profit, too high and you won't sell many tickets. Fundraising over and over to the same people gets old for you and for them, but if there is a possibility of winning a great prize, that changes everything. Look for more raffle ideas here:

Good Luck.

Large bloom on a tall stem. This popular pink rose lasts a long time, but doesn't open fully. Always cut rose stems at a sharp angle underwater. If a rose appears wilted cut and put in hot water while holding the head straight. After about 20 seconds the water will reach the top of the rose and revive it.

My favorite girl names...?

Would you please comment on or rate individually my favorite girl names?

Violet Erin- Erin was my favorite girl name for years and years, but then someone married into the family with that name, so I decided it would be a middle name, and I realized that I absolutely adored the name Violet.

Brenna Ruth- Ruth has ALWAYS been one of my favorite names, and I love "enna" sound in names because it sounds really soft and pretty to me.

Fira Bree- Fira is pronounced feer-uh, or fee-ruh, and I heard it from a storybook, and Bree is just a really elegant pretty name in my opinion.

Keturah Eden- I've always liked the name Eden, but preferred it for a middle name; Keturah is pronounced keh-too-ruh, and it's a biblical name that means incense.

Blodwyn Audra- I discovered the name Blodwyn just searching thru a baby name book; it means white flower in Welsh and I think it's a BEAUTIFUL name; Audra is a family name and I think it sounds really good with Blodwyn.

My favorite girl names...?
Violet Erin- I think this is the prettiest one. i really love it.

Brenna Ruth- i like ruth, but not brenna.

Fira Bree- Fira is kinda pretty, but not fond of the name Bree in general.

Keturah Eden- this one is ok, sounds very exotic. would she have a nickname? if so, what would it be? be ready for a lifetime of strange spellings.

blodwyn audra- i like audra, but blodwyn is a little weird for me.
Reply:Violet Erin: Really pretty name

Brenna Ruth: Quite like this as unusual but not totally out there

Fira Bree: Quite nice. The name grows on you

Keturah Eden: Ok. Not my favourite but passable

Blodwyn Audra: Hate the name brodwyn. No child would want to grow up with a name like that and she would change it by deed pole as soon as she could.

Audra is nice though
Reply:Violet Erin is a beautiful name. The others are too contrived or made-up. Name her something that is easily understood.

I've lived my whole life explaining my first name and spelling it.

Wish I had been named a more understandable name.
Reply:I have a younger sister named Brenna, it's such a a pretty name.

Fira, Keturah and Blodwyn are all a little to made up sounding for my taste. But I like Violet, although I think it's quite trendy right now.
Reply:Violet Erin, very cute.

Brenna Ruth, love Brenna, not Ruth.

Fira Bree, Fira is pretty, not Bree.

Keturah reminds me of Ketchup. Eden is pretty.

Blodwyn screams Blood to me. Audra is nice.
Reply:I lmost like Brenna Ruth.

Violet Erin - cute - 7

Brenna Ruth - sweet - 9

Fira Bree - I like Fira spelt Freya. so i like the name - 8

Reply:i love this name Fira Bree, this is unique....violet???someone already own that , the daughter of tom and kat...and i dont like it ew..thats a very big EW....i like Fira bree, not known and very nice..
Reply:I like Violet Erin, Eden, and Audra, but the others are too odd. Really don't like Blodwyn!! or Bree!!
Reply:All these names are very unique and beautiful. I like Fira Bree the best. If a girl is named Fira Bree, she would remind me of a fairy.
Reply:I really like Violet Erin and Brenna Ruth sounds nice, but the others are not names I care for at all.
Reply:Well its not like your close friends with Jen and Ben. Anyway I like Brenna its cute and not to common.
Reply:Personally, I don't like any of the names.
Reply:I like the name Audra. How do you pronounce Blodwyn...in my head it's sounding kinda vampire-ish.
